From August 1st until August 6th 2022, we had the honor to organize the 2022 World Boccia Challenger Veldhoven. This week, 90 athletes from 24 different countries battled each other in four different classes. Both media and visitors came to behold this paralympic sport. During this event there were points up for grabs for the ranking of the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. The Dutch team was able to earn quite a few of these points, with the help of the Gold medal of Daniël Perez in the BC1 Men’s class, and a team achievement of Daniël Perez, Chantal van Engelen (BC2F) and Bernd Meints (BC2M).

Major thanks to the Department of Public Health, Welfare and Sport, Handicapped Sports, World Boccia, municipality Veldhoven, and NH Eindhoven Conference Centre Koningshof for making this a successful event. And a big thanks to all the volunteers and officials, who also made this event possible. We would like to see all the participants back in Rotterdam during the European Para Championships 2023!
