BATTLE IN THE SANDBOX

In 2014, Team TOC, transformed Ahoy into a BMX arena. Kilos of sand were poured there to create the perfect track. The BMX World Championships were brought to Rotterdam in cooperation with Rotterdam Topsport, Ahoy, the KNWU and the Ministry of VWS.

Side event

Besides the 20,000 fans who attended the event, the Rotterdam youth was not left out either. For example, several BMX clinics were organized at elementary school in Rotterdam, with a specially designed mobile BMX track. Visitors could also take a look at the BMX museum, including the world-famous bike from the classic ET. In Rotterdam, all former BMX champions were also present at the Reunion of Champions.

Thanks in part to the world championships in Rotterdam, BMX has become a full-fledged sport in the Netherlands, with medals at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro as the icing on the cake.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUPPORT

After a previous great partnership with Red Bull for the innovative cycling concept Red Bull Kop over Kop, in 2017 Team TOC was commissioned by Red Bull to become an organizing partner for the soapbox race.

AN ULTIMATE CHALLENGE

In cooperation with Red Bull, Team TOC organized the first edition of Red Bull Kop over Kop in 2015. For Red Bull this was the first cycling event in the Netherlands to which they attached their name and the start of a now long-standing cooperation. Red Bull Kop over Kop was a unique 100 km team time trial for amateurs. It was the ultimate challenge for cycling teams; each team starts with one rider and after every 20 km another teammate joins. In the end, each team finishes with five riders.

Every organizer of a major cycling race knows how much time and effort it takes to finish a course for half an hour. But what if, as an organization, you organize a time trial for amateurs with as many as 200 teams, five riders per team, on a 100 km course that is closed for hours. Team TOC has already organized the necessary cycling events for the international cycling federation UCI, but as an organizing partner of Red Bull Kop over Kop, closing off a course for four hours is a bit different.

To inform local residents about the possible traffic disruption and the event, 15,000 letters were delivered in the vicinity of the track. The letter also contained the announcement for the walk-in evening organized by Team TOC on the eve of the event. At this walk-in evening, local residents could ask the organization questions about accessibility and alternative routes.

FAST SWITCHING AND SUPPORT

Louisville 2013

Slight panic at the UCI: eight weeks before the 2013 cyclocross World Cup in Louisville, USA, the agreement with the promoter had to be dissolved. The UCI approached Team TOC to oversee the World Championships on behalf of them and USA Cycling.

Together with the organizers of USA Cycling and the Louisville Sports Commission, we managed to set out the main lines in eight weeks in terms of TV production, accreditation, media, transportation, ticket sales and course. A "hell of a job," but it worked!

Besides the fact that this World Cup was taking place in the U.S. for the first time, it became a legendary event because on the Wednesday before this WC, we learned that the Ohio River would overflow its banks and flood the course; as a result, no cycling was possible on Sunday.

Sunday's races were moved to Saturday, making it the first time all World Cup events were run on one day. But also because of the truly fantastic enthusiastic crowd, it was a World Cup to remember!

Biles 2017

For the cyclocross world championships in Bieles (Luxembourg) 2017, Team TOC was asked to support and advise the local organization leading up to and during the event. Team TOC was also responsible for hospitality, communication and sponsor recruitment (Netherlands and Belgium).

BATTLE IN VARIOUS PARALYMPIC CATEGORIES

From September 12 to 15, 2019, Emmen hosted the World Para-cycling Championships. Dessert for the municipality and province after organizing two successful World Cup races.

World Cup

In 2017 and 2018, some 320 athletes from 36 different countries competed in Emmen for each World Cup. The riders thoroughly enjoyed the course, the podium ceremonies and the hospitality of the associations on the Meerdijk, which opened their accommodations and provided a large number of volunteers for the event. Both World Cups were also visited by school children from the area who participated in the various side-events on the Beweegplein located next to the course.

The World Cups in Emmen also brought out the best in the Dutch para-cycling selection. No fewer than 32 medals remained in the Netherlands in the past two World Cups.

AN EVENT WITH A ROYAL TOUCH

From March 14 to 17, 2019, the UCI World Para-Cycling Track Championships took place at Omnisport. Team TOC, as LOC, was responsible for the entire organization. With tournament director Teun Mulder as the figurehead, various side-events, symposia and free admission, as many visitors as possible could get in touch with para-cycling. The highlight show of these world championships can be seen at YouTube.

Royal visit

On the very day Princess Margriet visited the World Championships, the only gold medal for the Netherlands was won by Caroline Groot. In addition to the games, Princess Margriet also visited a congress of Boundless Active, an initiative of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport in cooperation with NOC*NSF, among others, to ensure that there is sufficient local sports supply for people with disabilities.

Side events

Several schools from the Apeldoorn area entertained at various sports activities, such as sitting volleyball, a wheelchair track and wheelchair tennis. They also listened, among other things, to the inspiring story of Edwin de Wolf, a former soldier who lost his leg during the war in Bosnia and went on to win several medals at the Invictus Games, the Olympic Games for ex-military personnel. In cooperation with the UWV, the symposium Inclusive with Sport also took place with the goal of promoting inclusion of people with a disadvantage in society.

Previous edition

In 2015, Team TOC also organized the World Para Cycling Track Championship in Apeldoorn. In cooperation with the UCI, a world championship of high class was put down.

A REGULAR & PARA WK COMBINED

For two weeks in 2019, 's-Hertogenbosch was the center of hand archery sports! From June 3-16, the World (Para) Hand Archery Championships took place in the historic center of the city. In the first week it was the turn of the para-athletes first, a week later (June 10-16) the able-bodied athletes were in action. Together, the two World Championships formed the largest sporting event to be held in the Netherlands in 2019. Both World Championships were also the most important qualification moment for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In total, more than 1,000 athletes took part, from 120 countries, supplemented by about 600 people accompanying them. As many as 40,000 visitors were welcomed to the largest sporting event held in the Netherlands in 2019.

Side-event 

People with a greater distance from society have not been forgotten either. In cooperation with the municipality of 's-Hertogenbosch and the province of North Brabant, the spin-off program focused on the target groups children, the disabled and the elderly. During Arcchery 2019, for example, a special BowBingo was organized for lonely elderly people.

A BATTLE IN THE CARIBEN

After years of being involved in the organization of the Tennis Classics in Eindhoven and Apeldoorn, it was time for a new adventure. In 2017, Team TOC left for sunny Curaçao for the first time to organize the Curaçao Tennis Legends. Watch the aftermovie of the 2019 Curaçao Tennis Legends here.

With the Curaçao Tennis Legends, Team TOC has introduced the combination of business, entertainment and sports to the island. Hilarious rallies, interaction with the audience, magic balls played between the legs to diving to retrieve impossible balls; top entertainment guaranteed with ball virtuosos on the Centre Court. After the matches there will be live entertainment and the players will be happy to show up to tell funny anecdotes and take pictures with the audience.

Promotion of the sport

One of the objectives of the tournament is to promote the tennis sport on Curaçao and to get children moving. At all editions master classes were given by the Legends to the greatest tennis talents of Curaçao, school children received a clinic in the middle of the central square of Willemstad and children from less fortunate families received tennis lessons from the Legends.
